Ha…I actually got hands on with this baby today. It is a pretty awesome piece of technology. I am in a class called Engineer Explosive Ordnance Clearing Agent for the Army. For those people who want to know what its used for…the primary mission for this version (irobot EOD) is to remotely blow in place ordnance or IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).
holy shit 200,000 dollers!
One of these robots had been blown up while disposing an EOD in Afghanistan, and the sergeant in charge of it brought it back to iRobot’s repair center and, in tears, pleaded the technician to fix it. He said that this robot had saved so many lives; he had made a mark on the robot for each bomb it had disarmed. Thank you iRobot.
around $200,000
for the kiddies out there who keep asking what dose it do, think about what it can do instead with the features discussed. A lot of great and horrible ideas have come from seeing what something can do, and then using it for something besides it’s designed purpose. This thing can do several tasks, but what i think we need to hear more of is the “freedom arm” and what are it’s abilities.
remind me
wat was this thing built for?
a moveable harddrive?
self driven trolley?
But really noisy!
alot
that’s a cool robot
how much is it for one?
it was actually a defense contract to build a backpack modular robot that can negotiate possible IED sites.
the control station looks like the GameBoy Jumbo lol
very nice, modular, purchase ready
and douches
i kid i kid
ok but what does it do ?! it was just driving around, like a remote controlled car – we had that already in the 80′s, i want to see this thing actually do something on its own
i am a busy guy and start hating very much idiots with no life, and nothing else to do, so get a life, work and girlfriend, i am really impressed that this shit you didnt named it “hack” too
